As most Entry members will know, since its formation in the late 1990s, the Royal Air Force Locking Apprentice Association (RAFLAA) has held an AGM and associated social event, normally  near Locking/Weston-super-Mare, in the spring of each year.

A very small number of our Entry are members of RAFLAA (we could do with some more!!) and consequently attendance by the 84th has been very limited in past years.    However, this year, the RAFLAA committee decided to widen the attraction of the annual meeting by moving to a different place in the country and so on the last weekend of April this year the AGM and Dinner/Dance was held in the Marriot Hotel in Peterborough.

The move proved to be a success as the numbers were increased, based on the past figures for the Weston area and this year three members of the 84th attended the function.   David Rodgers, Keith Runacres and Tony Beard, together with their respective partners all had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend in quite a splendid hotel which was eminently suitable for events of this nature having both very good  accommodation, excellent catering facilities and all at a very reasonable RAFLAA discounted rate.

Following a meet-and-greet on Saturday morning, we all enjoyed a buffet lunch after which the gentlemen retired to a conference room for the AGM whilst the ladies spent  the afternoon either enjoying the hotel's recreational facilities or the bar and cafes.  The evenings dinner dance was also most enjoyable, the meal both sumptuous and plentiful, the music attuned to our taste, and not too loud as well!

All in all, an excellent mini-reunion and the Marriot Hotel Group showing their ability to accommodate events such as reunions - food for thought anybody??
